A backup is a saved copy of your entire website. If something ever goes wrong, a backup lets us restore your site quickly.
GOOD NEWS: If you are on an Edge Strike Design maintenance plan, we back up your website automatically. You do not need to do anything.
Why Backups Matter
Websites can be affected by hacking, accidental deletions, failed updates, or server problems. Without a backup, recovering your site can be difficult or even impossible.
Creating a Manual Backup with UpdraftPlus
We recommend the free UpdraftPlus plugin for manual backups.
In your WordPress dashboard, go to Settings then UpdraftPlus Backups.
Click Backup Now.
Make sure both database and files are checked, then click Backup Now again.
Wait for the confirmation message. Your backup will appear in the Existing Backups section when done.
TIP: Back up your site before making any major changes, such as updating your theme or installing new plugins.
Restoring From a Backup
If you need to restore your site, please contact us first. Restoring a backup incorrectly can cause additional problems.
